We welcome thoughtful pitches from writers who can bring a clear, curious eye to coastal travel. A strong proposal has a distinct subject, a reader in mind and a reason the story belongs beside the sea.

What we welcome

We consider proposals about coastal landscapes, seaside towns, routes, crossings, walking and the rhythms of a journey. We are especially interested in pieces that explain a choice, compare different ways of approaching a place, trace a relevant background or help readers notice a detail they might otherwise pass by.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the working idea, the central question and what the reader will take away. Include the proposed form of the piece and any relevant experience or material that helps explain your approach. A narrow, well-shaped subject is more useful than a broad promise to cover a whole region or a complete travel experience.
